Memorial Medical Center Foundation:
Making a Healthy Investment in Our Community
The Memorial Medical Center Foundation was established in 1987 as the fundraising arm of the hospital.
Since the first appeal in 1989, the foundation has raised more than $10.7 million, including more than $3 million in 2004. The funds are used to purchase equipment, institute programs that enhance patient care, improve facilities and promote health education.
The Foundation holds an annual golf tournament – the Niagara Cup Classic – in June and conducts community funding appeals. All gifts to the Foundation are tax deductible and are acknowledged in a donor recognition publication.
In 1996, the Foundation established The Legacy Society as a successor to the Memorial Medical Center Corporation. Members of the society are entitled to a package of inpatient and outpatient benefits.

How to Make a Gift
You can help support the mission of Memorial Medical Center by making a gift to the Medical Center Foundation. Funds received by the Foundation are used to purchase medical equipment, support health care programs and services, and improve facilities.

By remembering Memorial Medical Center with a bequest in your will, you can make an impact that extends beyond your lifetime. Such a gift can also reduce estate taxes. When making a bequest, please consult with your attorney or other advisers, as well as Memorial's Foundation. If you have already included Memorial Medical Center in your will, we would appreciate hearing from you so we can ensure that your wishes are fulfilled.
Charitable annuities and trusts
Planned gifts can provide a wide range of benefits to you, your loved ones and Memorial Medical Center. Charitable remainder trusts and gift annuities, for example, provide income for life for the donor and/or other beneficiary. They also can reduce your tax bill and save on estate and gift taxes. To explore planned giving options, consult your attorney or call the Medical Center Foundation for a referral.
Gifts of appreciated securities can offer substantial tax advantages. They include forgiveness of the tax on capital gain and an income tax charitable deduction for the fair market value of the securities.
Memorial's Foundation has specially-designed envelopes that can be used to make a memorial gift, to express appreciation for exceptional care received while a patient at the Medical Center, or to mark special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. The envelopes are available at the Foundation office or the cashiers office in the Medical Center.
When a gift of this kind is received, the Foundation notifies the person or family indicated by the donor. The amount of the donation is not disclosed. The donor also receives an acknowledgment letter.
Many employers have programs that match employees' gifts. As a not-for-profit facility, Memorial is eligible for many matching-gift programs.
Individuals and businesses can lend support to the Foundation by donating goods and services for special events. The donor will receive a letter acknowledging the gift-in-kind.
All donations to the Medical Center Foundation are tax-deductible and are acknowledged in our annual donor recognition publication.
