BPO at Schoellkopf Park

There was magic in the air on July 9 as Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, our Memorial Park neighborhood and the entire community celebrated the restoration of Schoellkopf Park with an evening concert by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

The free event, part of the National Grid Summer in the Parks series co-sponsored by Target Stores, was enjoyed by an estimated 1,000 area residents who were treated to a virtuoso performance by world-class musicians in a splendid park that we are proud to see returned to its former glory.

Producing this magnificent event was a true community effort.  Our thanks go the City of Niagara Falls, Fire Chief William MacKay, Police Superintendent John Chella, Public Works Director David Kinney and Deputy Public Works Director John Caso for their tireless assistance.  We are also grateful for the support provided by Kathie Kudela and our partners at the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, Brett Nadeau at Falls Tent & Canvas, and Ron Forster and the Modern Corporation.

The Buffalo Philharmonic staff was a joy to work with, as well, and our special thanks go the BPO’s Mike Giambra, Lisa Gallo, Gretchen Jameson, Mike Lazzaro and Maestro Paul Ferington.

Truly, this was a night to remember.  We will certainly be inviting this wonderful orchestra to pay us a return visit.

Ruffolo thanks staff for making Memorial a great place to work
