The Premier

The 2008 Premier, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s annual black tie dinner and entertainment gala, was held Saturday, January 19 at the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel, 310 Fourth St., Niagara Falls. 

Niagara Cup Classic

A limited number of foursomes, sponsorship opportunities and dinner openings are available for the 17th Annual Niagara Cup Classic, one of Western New York's premier charity golf tournaments.

This year’s tournament will be held Tuesday, June 3 at the Niagara Falls Country Club. The morning flight will tee off with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. with the afternoon flight hitting the links at 12:30 p.m.

The Niagara Cup Classic is one of Western New York's premier charity golf tournaments. Since its founding in 1992, the event has raised nearly $800,000 for medical equipment and health care programs at Memorial Medical Center. The 2007 tournament raised $77,000 toward the purchase of programming and therapeutic equipment.

The tournament is presented by the Memorial Medical Center Alliance and the Medical Center Foundation, which holds annual funding appeals on behalf of the hospital and its affiliates.

The Washington Mills Electro Minerals Corp. team of, from left, Peter VanderValk, Sandro Borghesi, Ron Campbell and Don McLeod won the 2007 tournament with a best two balls net score of 124.

Women’s champions were Dr. Rama Bojedla, Deb Kantor, Mary Spacone and Bev Taibi.  Dave Sharp carded a 75 to capture first place net honors.

Safe at Home Conference

The 10th Annual Family Violence Intervention Project Conference was held Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Conference Center Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls, NY.

Who Attended: Law enforcement officers, prosecutors, medical and child welfare professionals, therapists, attorneys, social workers, educators, advocates and counselors.  Attendees gained a better understanding of the dynamics and impact of domestic violence and child abuse as well as ways to recognize, investigate, treat and prevent family violence.
