Home > News Room > Gentile earns designation as Certified Diabetes Educator Gentile earns designation as Certified Diabetes EducatorKaren Gentile, RD, CDE, a registered dietitian in the Diabetes & Endocrinology Center of Niagara at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, has been awarded Certified Diabetes Educator status by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. Health care professionals who receive the CDE® credential must meet or exceed rigorous eligibility requirements and demonstrate distinct and specialized knowledge that promotes quality care for persons with diabetes. Gentile, who lives in Tonawanda with her two children, graduated from the State University College at Buffalo and is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the Western New York Association of Diabetes Educators. She has worked at Memorial since 1999 performing nutrition care planning and counseling for both inpatients and outpatients. She joined the Diabetes & Endocrinology Center of Niagara in September 2007 and is the third certified diabetes educator on the staff, along with Muriel Forte, CDE, and Pam Beamer, CDE. |
