Dr. William M. Wind Jr., a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo, is showcased in the magazine for his work as founding director of the Western New York Cartilage Restoration Center. Dr. Wind said he decided to open the center after doing fellowship work at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in sports medicine and knee and shoulder arthroscopic surgery. When the Western New York native returned home, he realized local patients with cartilage injuries didn’t have access to the same treatment options as patients in Cleveland. The Cartilage Restoration Center offers a full range of treatment options for knee cartilage injuries including the latest outpatient and minimally invasive procedures. Such treatments can resolve pain, restore function and delay the progression of arthritis, Wind said.
