The event will feature a stunning variety of demonstrations, performances and interactive exhibits including strolling musicians, pony rides, a petting zoo and children’s face painting. Also on the program: • Adult and children’s chess tournaments directed by James Ware, the founder of the successful “Chess Beats the Streets” program for youth. • Performances by the Niagara Experience Players, Jaclyn Carol’s Dance Academy and storyteller/musician Lorna MacDonald Czarnota. • “Herbs and Container Gardens,” a presentation by Master Gardener John Farfaglia of Cornell Cooperative Extension. • Pastry and pie making classes and demonstrations by the Culinary Arts Institute at Niagara County Community College. • “Eating Smart” canning demonstrations by Cornell Cooperative Extension. • A Native American village experiential art exhibit. • Tai Chi demonstrations, caricature sketches, a chalk walk, and live open air (plein air) painting. • A multi-arts/multi-media lineup of exhibiting artists. “This year’s summer arts celebration will be a wonderful opportunity for local residents and tourists alike to experience what we believe is the most beautiful park in the city,” said Ann Marie Tucker, Memorial’s vice president for foundation and community relations. “Our partners at the NACC have put together a great lineup for what promises to be a very enjoyable day.” Immediately following Arts in the Park, the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, located adjacent to Schoellkopf Park, will host a 6 p.m. outdoor jazz concert featuring Lynn Ligammari. Both events are free and open to the public. Arts in the Park is sponsored by Pine Pharmacy, Modern Corporation, Niagara Gazette, City of Niagara Falls and the Pine Avenue Business Association.
