The new mammography suite will feature a state-of-the-art, full field digital system with a computer aided detection program (CAD), a dedicated workstation for image display and interpretation; and a digital picture archiving and communication system (PACS). This digital technology will shorten a patient’s exam time, lower the radiation dose, enhance physicians’ image interpretation capabilities and reduce the need for retesting. Other Summit Healthplex improvements will include an expanded changing area that greatly increases comfort and privacy for women receiving mammograms and a redesigned outpatient registration area. The new registration area will feature a bright, modern look and more efficiently serve patients who visit the Summit Healthplex for laboratory testing or diagnostic imaging services such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, mammograms and echocardiograms. The project is part of the $8.3 million in building, equipment and technology improvements now under way at Memorial Medical Center, Memorial’s 10th Street parking ramp and medical office building, and the Summit Healthplex. The improvements at Summit are scheduled for completion in late December. |
