Margaret L. Wendt Foundation awards $125,000 challenge grant to Niagara Falls Memorial

The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation has awarded a $125,000 challenge grant to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center to be used toward the renovation of a medical-surgical unit at the hospital.

The project will create a patient and family centered healing environment that places an emphasis on collaborating with patients and families of all ages, at all levels of care and in all healthcare settings. The project will provide a Patient and Family Learning Center, a Family Room and Nurse Sub-Station and will incorporate various noise reduction and patient safety features.

“The provision of patient and family centered care across the continuum of Memorial’s healthcare service delivery system is the cornerstone in our roadmap for transformation from a traditional safety net hospital to a center for community health,” said Memorial President & CEO Joseph A. Ruffolo.  “We are grateful to the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation for its support.”

The project is scheduled to begin in March and be completed by August. The price tag for the renovation is $1,249,956.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is a full-service, 171-bed hospital with extensive inpatient and outpatient services including The Heart Center of Niagara, Diabetes & Endocrinology Center of Niagara and Niagara County’s first state-accredited stroke center.

Ruffolo thanks staff for making Memorial a great place to work
