Memorial's Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program earns certification

Exercise physiologist Christopher Fetterly, left; patient Edward Rodgers of Lewiston; nurse Theresa Schuey, BSN; and Director Kelly M. Fitzgerald, RN, BS, AE-C, FAACVPR, right, of Memorial Medical Center’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department receive the program certification awarded by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department has been granted certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Program certification assures patients that the program meets all essential standards of care described in the 4th Edition Guidelines for Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention Programs. To qualify, a program must pass review by AACVPR state and regional committees, the National Certification Committee and the AACVPR Board of Directors.
The mission of AACVPR is to reduce morbidity, mortality and disability from cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases through education, prevention, rehabilitation, research and aggressive disease management.

Founded in 1985, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) is dedicated to the professional development of its members through information, networking, and educational opportunities. Central to the mission is the improvement of the quality of life for patients and their families.
