Memorial honors Don J. King at 2008 Premier

Don J. King, longtime member and current chairman of the board at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, was honored for his leadership and tireless efforts to improve the health and well-being of residents of the Greater Niagara community at The Premier, Memorial’s annual black tie dinner and entertainment gala.

For more than two decades, Memorial Medical Center has benefited from the capable leadership and unflagging support of Mr. King, who has worn many hats over the course of those years, including:

• Board member since 1985, the longest of any current director

• General chairman of the Medical Center Foundation’s 1999 fund drive

• Interim president and CEO

• Board chairman since 2002

During Don’s tenure on the board, Memorial firmly positioned itself as Niagara’s Premier Health Network.  The Summit Healthplex, Mary C. Dyster Women’s Pavilion and ER1/Heart Center of Niagara were opened.  A host of innovative programs were developed to respond to community needs.

Don has brought similar passion and dedication to countless other organizations, including the Niagara Falls Board of Education, Buffalo-Niagara YMCA, Niagara Falls Public Library and United Way of Niagara.

He and his wife, the former Elizabeth DiCamillo, have been married for 48 years. They have four daughters – Robin King, Ph.D., Kathryn Englehart, Laura King and Sara King-Streibig – and three grandchildren.

A short program that included a special salute to Mr. King was held  immediately preceding entertainment by Three Dog Night at the 2008 Premier, which took place at the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel. The event was a sellout, with 950 people in attendance.
