Michael Stoffman, M.D., an Ontario native currently serving as chief neurosurgery resident at Yale University, has been appointed chief of neurosurgery at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Stoffman, who holds a bachelor’s degree with high distinction in pharmacology from the University of Toronto and is a cum laude medical graduate of the University of Ottawa, will begin seeing patients at Memorial in August. A member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Stoffman has a broad experience in the surgical management of spinal disorders from minimally invasive to reconstructive procedures. He has a special interest in neurosurgical oncology and in the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors. He has presented neurosurgery grand rounds at the Yale School of Medicine and been published in such journals as Neurosurgery and Neurosurgical Oncology. Dr. Stoffman is a contributor to the Handbook of Clinical Neurophysiology, widely regarded as the ultimate reference source for academic clinical neurophysiologists. In addition, he is the principal investigator of a National Institute of Health grant examining quality of life in patients with brain tumors and has served as an invited grant reviewer for the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Stoffman will team up with neurosurgeon Michael Landi, M.D., as part of the multidisciplinary medical staff at The Spine Center of Niagara, a service of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. |
