Memorial Medical Center welcomes new hospitalists

Zubair Shaikh, M.D., M.S., and Sangeeta Kumar, M.D., have joined the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center staff as physicians in the hospitalist program.

Dr. Shaikh is a graduate of the B.J. Medical College at the University of Pune in Pune, India and holds a master’s degree in Exercise and Movement Science from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.

His post-graduate education includes internship and residency at Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore, where he was chief resident in 2008-2009; rotations at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland Medical Center; extensive exposure in geriatrics; and stints as a preceptor of medical students from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Ross University School of Medicine, St. Kitts, West Indies.

A former assistant professor at the Medical University of the Americas (Nevis, St. Kitts & Nevis, West Indies) where he was a two-time winner of the Outstanding Professor Award, Dr. Shaikh is board-eligible in Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Society for Sports Medicine.

Dr. Kumar is a graduate of the University of Delhi and the University College of Medical Sciences/Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Delhi, India.  She completed her residency in internal medicine at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center, Dearborn, Michigan.  

Dr. Kumar’s professional experience includes six years of traditional internal medicine practice prior to her work as a hospitalist.  She most recently served on the hospitalist staff at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo.
