Sports medicine seminar to address heat illness, steroid use

Athletes, coaches and parents will benefit from a seminar that will address two timely sports medicine topics at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Auditorium.

Delivering a presentation on "Heat Illness Prevention" will be Tony Surace, M.Ed., ATC, manager of sports medicine and athletic training at University Sports Medicine of Niagara.

"Anabolic Steroids: What Are They? What Are the Risks?" will be presented by Dr. John J. Leddy, University Sports Medicine's associate medical director.

University Sports Medicine of Niagara provides comprehensive athletic training and sports medicine services to Niagara County Community College, Niagara Catholic High School and the Niagara Falls, Niagara-Wheatfield and North Tonawanda school districts.

The school with the most athletes, parents and coaches at Wednesday's program will win products from Gatorade for their school's athletic program. Call 278-4523 to register.
