Women's Medicine of Niagara, Niagara Falls Memorial partner to provide high-quality patient care

Niagara County’s busiest obstetrics and gynecology practice is now providing high quality patient care at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

Women’s Medicine of Niagara, a group of physicians and allied professionals who meet the full spectrum of women’s healthcare needs, said the decision to partner with the Niagara Falls hospital was made to better serve their patients.

“What we are changing is where our doctors provide obstetric and surgical procedures,” said Renee Taefi Baughman, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.  “Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has superb facilities in which to provide these services.”

Dr. Baughman emphasized that she and the other members of the Women’s Medicine of Niagara staff will maintain their current offices at 5320 Military Road, Suite 104 in Lewiston and 2279 Grand Island Blvd., Grand Island.

“We are accepting new patients at both locations,” she added.

Niagara Falls Memorial is able to provide Women’s Medicine of Niagara’s patients services and amenities that will enhance the quality of care as well as their comfort and convenience, Dr. Baughman said.  Among those amenities:

• A newly renovated labor and delivery wing.
• Spacious, private labor and delivery suites with homelike accommodations including showers and cable television.
• Increased capacity for obstetric patients.
• Around-the-clock coverage by CGF Anesthesia Associates, the same group that provides  anesthesia services at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
• Neonatal and perinatal expertise for high-risk pregnancies.

Memorial President & CEO Joseph A. Ruffolo said the expertise of Dr. Baughman and her team combined with the skill and experience of the nursing staff at Memorial’s Mary C. Dyster Women’s Pavilion will provide a true center of excellence for women’s healthcare services.

In addition, the change is expected to double the number of babies born at Memorial to 850 during the next 12 months, a number expected to exceed 1,000 births annually over the next three years, he said.

“Dr. Baughman and her partners, Dr. Donna Feldman and Dr. Rachel G. Weselak, have led the way in pioneering a holistic model of women’s healthcare that includes nutrition management, fertility services, weight loss programming, menopausal management, laser hair removal, cancer screening, acupuncture and herbal medicine along with high quality obstetrics and gynecology,” Ruffolo said. “Their board certified providers share our commitment to excellence, and we look forward to working with them to provide the best possible care.”
