EKG (Pediatric)

Many radiological exams require specific patient preparation prior to the exam in order to insure that the study is performed in the safest and most accurate manner possible. If you are scheduled for one of the following studies, follow the instructions exactly as written. If you have any questions or feel that you cannot comply with the instructions, be sure to call the Department of Cardiology at (716) 278-4404.

Before the Test:
Bring prescriptions from your doctor’s office.
There are NO dietary restrictions prior to this test.
During the Test:
This test will be completed in approximately 10 minutes.
An EKG is a valuable diagnostic tool that records signals from your heart onto a paper strip.
The patterns of these signals can tell the physician if your heart is normal at rest or if it is experiencing problems, strain or damage.
An EKG is painless and there are no risks.
Small patches will be placed on your arms, legs and 6 points on your chest which will be removed after the test is complete.
The results will then be sent to your doctor.

The information found on this site is general in nature and some of it may not apply to your specific situation. The information is also subject to change as medical knowledge advances and new methods of treatment are developed.

These instructions do not take the place of directions given to you by your MD.
